His work—blurred masterfully between art and science—made complex natural forms accessible and engaging to both scholars and the public. As a member of the Salon des Artistes Francaise (receiving an honorable mention in 1891) and the Société entomologique de France, Millot's illustrations graced scientific journals and encyclopedias, shaping generations' appreciation for zoology.

The illustration accurately labels various marine organisms grouped as Mollusques (mollusks), Vers (worms), Echinodermes (echinoderms), Cœlentérés (coelenterates), and Infusoires (infusoria). Clearly labeled species with their common French and corresponding accurate scientific (Latin) names include: Pieuvre (Octopus vulgaris), Argonaute (Argonauta argo), Limace (Arion ater), Escargot (Helix pomatia), Buccins (Buccinum undatum), Cône (Conus marmoreus), Porcelaine (Cypraea tigris), Volute (Voluta musica), Ovule (Ovula ovum), Huître (Ostrea edulis), Moule (Mytilus edulis), Pétoncle (Pecten maximus), Palourde (Ruditapes decussatus), Teredo (Teredo navalis), Dentale (Dentalium entalis), Bonellie (Bonellia viridis), Némerte (Lineus longissimus), Sabelle (Sabella spallanzanii), Serpule (Serpula vermicularis), Oursin (Echinus esculentus), Étoile de mer (Asterias rubens), Comatule (Antedon mediterranea), Holothurie (Holothuria tubulosa), Actinie (Actinia equina), Alcyon (Alcyonium digitatum), Corail rouge (Corallium rubrum), Corail blanc (Madrepora oculata), Méduse (Aurelia aurita), and Vorticelle (Vorticella campanula). This precise selection of marine life provides an educational and visually striking reference to the diversity and beauty of these aquatic organisms.

The dominant palette balances naturalistic greens, pearly off-whites, and muted browns—giving the piece a harmonious, organic tone. Hints of blush pink, soft lavender, and blue enliven seashells and translucent tissue, complemented by delicately inked outlines that lend subtle texture and highlight each specimen’s unique features. This engagingly aesthetic presentation, combined with scientific clarity, makes this print both a visual delight and a curiosity—a superb choice for the study, hallway, or any elegant living space.

Offering a timeless nod to Victorian-era natural history, "Molluscs" is a considerate gift for anyone with an interest in marine biology, zoology, antique illustration, or vintage décor.
